                        Daniel R. Degen, Esq. - Board Chair

                        Daniel Degen is Vice President and Corporate Counsel for Rosemont Masonry Corporation.

                        Mr. Degen earned his J.D., cum laude, Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2008 and a B.B.A. in Management - Consulting from the University of Notre Dame in 2005.

                        From September 2008 to March 2011, Mr. Degen practiced for the law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in the areas of construction and surety law, class action litigation and professional liability defense. He represented sureties, contractors and trade contractors in payment disputes, design defect claims, delay claims, defective work claims. Mr. Degen’s construction law matters included design defect claims, delay and disruption claims, labor productivity, contract interpretation, differing site conditions and surety bond and mechanics lien claims. 

                        Mr. Degen joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in September 2008. Previously he was a law clerk at Clifford Law Offices, P.C. in Chicago, Illinois and at Storino, Ramello & Durkin in Rosemont, Illinois. Mr. Degen is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. 

                        Mr. Degen volunteers his time with Lucca Leadership North America, NFP, a not-for-profit organization that offers transformational leadership courses designed for young adults from around the world. He was Managing Director of the organization from 2006 to 2010, and continues to serve as the organization's Chairman. 

                        As part of his work with Lucca Leadership, Mr. Degen is part of the delivery team for a number of courses, including “Introduction to Transformational Leadership,” and week-long “Leadership Foundations” programs. In 2009, Mr. Degen ran the Chicago Marathon and raised more than $6,000 in support of Lucca Leadership.

                        During his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, he was the Director of Global Development for Notre Dame’s Student International Business Council (SIBC). He also volunteered his time at the University’s Community Relations Center, where he assisted in teaching the elderly how to use computers.
