                        Ericka Harney, CFRE, GPC, CVA

                        Ericka Harney has worked in the nonprofit sector as a professional and volunteer for over 10 years, focusing on fund development for the past 6 years.  She is the owner of Cause Head Consulting. In addition being an independent nonprofit and fundraising consultant, Ericka is the Assistant Director of Development at The Council of State Governments, a nonprofit organization forecasting policy trends for the states on a national and regional basis to all three branches of state government.  Ericka is also Adjunct Faculty for Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, NJ teaching graduate and non-credit courses in fundraising and grant writing.  She has been previously employed by Chrysalis House, God’s Pantry Food Bank, the University of Kentucky and the
                        Girl Scouts – Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council.

                        Ericka is involved with various nonprofit organizations in the community.  Currently, she serves as the President of God’s Closet, where she worked with her friend and Executive Director Sheila Taluskie to create a social enterprise, The Purple Lunchbox, to employ women struggling to find employment. She also serves on the board of Progress Lex and the Kentucky Occupational Therapy Foundation. In addition, she volunteers for many organizations in Lexington and nationally. These include Girl Scouts, Fayette Co. 4-H, Mother to Mother, Alpha Phi Omega, Alzheimer’s Association, Florence Crittenton Home, Habitat for Humanity, and Friends of Malawi. Ericka attended the Leadership Foundations Program in August 2009 and has been involved with Lucca Leadership North America since.

                        Ericka received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Bachelor of Science in Communication, as well as a Master of Arts in Communication, from the University of Kentucky.  Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership concentrating on Nonprofit Leadership from Eastern University in St. David’s, PA.   

                        She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a professional credential from CFRE International,  a Grant Professional Certified (GPC) grant writer from the Grant Professionals Certification Institute, and  a Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA). She has served as a federal grant peer reviewer for the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Corporation for National and Community Service.  Professionally, she serves on the board of the Grant Professionals Certification Institute, the US Government Relations Committee for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and a conference reviewer for the American Evaluation Association.
