Erika Deniger-Hagman - 2009 Foundations and 2010 Living Leadership Participant
June 2011: In attending two programs with Lucca Leadership North America, Foundations and Living Leadership, I learned about leadership, yes, but I applied it to me. In the team tasks and with the organic presentation of the material, I found myself discovering my own purpose and clarity for weeks after the program. The week programs overflowed to my day to day thinking and activities. I found myself one year after my first LLNA experience, resigning from my job to pursue a calling I felt to mission work overseas. Here in Thailand for 18 months, I am recalling this framework in my daily life and interactions with people from all over the world and from every variety of experience. It is nothing extraordinary, to communicate with people, but to do so well in the midst of language and cultural barriers?
This is extraordinarily difficult. More than these frameworks, have been the diversity of friends I have made on the LLNA programs. After one week of being humbled in leadership tasks and sharing our various experiences, I can say I have stepped outside of myself and outside of my level of status quo, able to take up this next journey of service.
